Newport Controls LLC announced today that its Merlin series of SmartControls for hot tubs and spas has received Underwriters Laboratories certification as a recognized component in North America after extensive testing by the internationally acclaimed independent product safety certification service.
Having the cUL mark on Merlin series components means that original equipment manufacturers, dealers, retailers and consumers can rest assured that their spas SmartControl system is compliant with the appropriate regulatory standards in North America.

The Merlin series offers spa enthusiasts a 12-inch tilt-up color screen mounted in a bezel into the top of the hot tub. Features include integrated entertainment options and spa management controls via a choice of shortcut buttons or colorful on-screen navigation. The Merlin connects to Newport Controls versatile eController, which houses, enables and connects iProducts, MP3 players and other smart devices to speakers and other third-party entertainment equipment.
Demonstrations of the Merlin series and other Newport Controls platforms will be available at the companys booth #5034 during the 2011 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo in Las Vegas Nov. 2-4.
Among those other products will be Newport Controls Azure series, which recently achieved CE certification that it is compliant with the appropriate worldwide regulatory standards.
In addition, Newport Controls will demonstrate its newest product offering an application that will allow users to control their spa and entertainment options wirelessly via their smart device, such as iPhone, iPad, iPod or Android-based phone or tablet.
